Pride and confidence was the theme at last night's IOA Corporate 5k as 16,400 runners and walkers took over downtown Orlando to celebrate healthy living with co-workers, friends and family.
Central Florida's premiere night-time corporate run is among the largest in Florida and among the first races since the tragic incident that occurred during Monday's Boston marathon.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer's participation was a visible sign of his confidence that downtown Orlando is a safe place to be and that we should celebrate our quality of life with the people we live and work with.
Evan Dehart, of WCCI ran a strong race to win as the Overall Men's Champion with a time of: 15:46
Kristen Tenaglia with New Balance ran 17:43 to claim victory as the Overall Female Champion.

Registered participants receive one Michelob Ultra voucher which is attached to race number. Race participants and spectators may purchase additional beer. Stop by two Michelob Ultra beer stations offered on race night.
This is an 'earth friendly' event! Please join Track Shack and use the recycling bins provided to dispose of your single-serve plastic containers i.e. Gatorade bottles, energy drink cans or gallon jugs. Volunteers will be present to assist in getting as many recyclable items as possible into the designated bins for collection.
For safety reasons, baby joggers/strollers, bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates, and dogs will be prohibited from the course. You must be 8 years old to participate. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please note that due to Lake Eola Park Regulations, outside alcohol is not allowed to be brought into Lake Eola. Alcohol may only be obtained from the Michelob Ultra Beer Stations located in the Blue, Red and Gold Zones. Grills, cooking appliances, and glass bottles are strictly prohibited in Lake Eola Park as well. Please do not dump any objects or liquid into the lake or dump ice onto the grass. Coolers and bags are subject to search. One company banner may be displayed within the structure of a rented tent. All other banners will be removed.

ONE PAYMENT for all team members - Team members can register with the team captain provided password. No credit card information is required up front by the team captain or team members. At packet pick-up, the Team Captain will receive wristbands for seeded runners. Only those runners who wear the wristband will be allowed in the "seeded corral" at the start line.
Captains may 'seed' 10% of their participants (i.e. 45 participants = 5 seeded runners), up to a maximum of 25 runners. Seeded runners are the fastest runners and will be at the front of the starting line. Seeded runners should be able to complete the Corporate 5k in 25 minutes or less. It is not mandatory to seed runners.

Don't miss the chance to see your company's name in the results! Not doing it for the Glory? Don't worry, the Team Scoring is optional.
This is a great opportunity to stir up friendly competition and get company recognition. It's simple; after the race, participants submit their finish times to the Team Captain. The team awards for each industry categories are based on the finish times.
Men's Team - 5 men

Coed team - 2 men, 2 women
Unique to this event, participants are responsible for remembering their own race times from the digital display clocks. Participants should move through the finish chute and locate his/her Team Captain or scorekeeper. We suggest your scorekeeper attach the roster form to a clipboard and record the times as they are reported. After the race when all the race times are in, determine how to fill out your scorecards.
Team Captain records all scores on scorecard(s) and turns in the scorecard(s) to the Information/Scoring tent for men's, women's, or mixed teams by 8:40 p.m. to be included in the results.
JetBlue Photo Contest
Take your photo in front of the JetBlue photo backdrop located in the Red, Blue and Gold tent zones at the IOA Corporate 5k and you could win a pair of airline tickets from JetBlue! Upload your photos to the Corporate 5k Facebook Page. Winner announced Tuesday, April 22nd.
Formerly known as The Tom Scalise Excellence in Achievement Award, the Leadership Award is awarded to the CEO/Top Manager that exemplifies workplace wellness. Nominations are accepted by all employees and the winner will be announced at the Corporate 5k start line.
The recipient receives: $1,000 charitable donation to a local non-profit of choice that supports health and wellness in Central Florida.

The "Best Overall Design" is decided by the participants through the Track Shack Facebook page. The entries are posted in a photo album for everyone to see and vote/like, so make sure they look good! An e-mail will be sent to the winning team and announced on the Facebook page.
The award will be presented at the race!

We want to recognize local companies that realize the benefits of creating healthy workplaces and who are willing to share their successes with others. Through our Winning Ways for Workplace Wellness Contest, company representatives are asked to contribute their workplace wellness best practices on the Corporate 5k Facebook Fan Page and help us build a culture of wellness around the Corporate 5k.
One company per month (Jan-April) will be selected as the featured company in the Company Spotlight for sharing their Winning Ways and will receive a lunch for 15 delivered to the office courtesy of Firehouse Subs!

Q: I am the team captain; When I log in login to manage my team, I notice that some of my team members are listed as incomplete. What should I do?
A: If you have incomplete registrations, please click on the checkout button to complete the registration process for all of those registrations. Team members have to click on the checkout button or their registrations will be incomplete.
Q: Why would my company rent a Team Tent?
A: Companies rent tent for hospitality as a way to entertain employees, clients and/or vendors.

Q: May we bring a grill?
Q: What does it mean to "seed runners"?
A: To position fast runners (i.e. finish under 25 minutes) in a reserved, corralled area at the very front of start line. Captains may "seed" 10% of their participants (i.e. 45 participants = 5 seeded runners), up to a maximum of 25 runners.
Q: How are runners seeded?
A: When the Team Captain picks up the team's Race Pack (t-shirts, race #'s, etc.) at Track Shack, race staff will offer wrist bands to be given to the seeded runners on their team. Only those runners who wear the wristband will be allowed in the "seeded corral" at the start line which is indicated by signage, barriers and volunteers. Seeded runners receive a red wrist band.
Q: How is a team scored?
A: After the race, team members report their finish time, exactly as it appears on the finish line clock, to their Team Captain. The Team Captain records all times on a scorecard and turns in the scorecard to the Information/Scoring tent by 8:40 p.m.
Q: Who is eligible to score on a company team?
A: Any registered runner or walker who is a full time employee and who works for the company/organization for a minimum of 32 hours per week. A CEO is eligible to score on a company team. A runner or walker can only be placed on one scorecard, except for the CEO.
Q: Who is the CEO?
A: The most senior full-time employee of a company with four or more full time employees. A person does not necessarily need to hold the CEO title (i.e. President, Owner, etc). There is only one CEO/ team. A CEO must complete and turn in the green scorecard to be included in the results.
Q: Who is an Entrepreneur?
A: The owner of a company with three or less full time employees. An Entrepreneur must complete and turn in the green scorecard to be included in the results.
Q: Where do we get Scorecards?
A: In the Team Captain Race Pack which is available during Race Pack pick up. Also on race night at the Information/Scoring tent.
Q: What are the scoring divisions?
A: Mens', Womens' and Mixed teams area awarded in 25 industry categories.
Q: When & where will results be posted?
A: Industry category results will be posted on www.Corporate5k.com the next business day.
Q: What time should we be there?
A: We recommend arriving at Lake Eola by 6 p.m. pm due to the large crowd and race time (7:15 p.m.).
Q: Where do we park?
A: Twenty parking garages in downtown Orlando have been identified on the Parking Map. Other suggestions include using side streets, car pooling and walking together from downtown office buildings.
Q: Where does the race start?
A: Corporate 5k starts on Central Blvd heading east.
Q: Where do the runners line up?
A: Runners (wearing orange bib numbers) and walkers (wearing purple bib numbers) will line up on Central Blvd. For the safety of all participants, runners and walkers will be directed to separate start areas. Watch for signs to the Runner Start lineup!
Q: Where do the walkers line up?
A: The walkers should line up behind the runners, near the intersection of Central and Rosalind. For the safety of all participants, runners and walkers will be directed to separate start areas. Watch for signs to the Walker Start lineup!
Q: Where do we drop off my canned food item for Christian Service Center?
A: Two drop off locations will be set up: 1) On Rosalind Ave. near the Amphitheatre and 2) Eola Drive (Panera side).
Q: What post-race refreshments are provided?
A: Water and bananas available for all participants. Each participant receives one complimentary Michelob Ultra coupon on their bib number. Additional Michelob Ultra may be purchased.

Take I-4 W to SR 50 / Colonial Dr. exit (#84) and cross over Colonial Dr. where it turns into Hughey Ave.
Take I-4 East get off the South St. exit (#82B) to Garland. You can also take Amelia St. exit (#83A) turn right on Amelia to get to Orange Ave.
From 408 East:
Take Mills Ave. exit and go left on South St. to Liberty St.
Arriving 1 hour early is strongly recommended due to traffic congestion. Area parking garages available, hourly rates may apply.

The 18th Annual IOA Corporate 5k presented by News 13 and Bright House Sports Network, Orlando's largest office party was the place to be on Thursday, April 12th, 2012. The 72 degree weather was perfect for a 5k through downtown. Over 100 teams recorded their finish times and are listed in the 2012 results.

During April, Track Shack customers and IOA Corporate 5k participants were invited to "Donate & Get Fit" for a chance to win an iPad, courtesy of New Balance the official apparel and shoe sponsor of the Corporate 5k. Customers donated their old running shoes and got specially fit for new running shoes.
The iPad winner was David Montanez, Environmental Graphic Manufacturer (Sign Maker) at Florida Hospital.
"I'm a long time runner and I run to keep my cholesterol and health in good shape. I've been shopping at Track Shack so long I remember when it was down the street where the Black Sheep knitting store is now," says Montanez. "I will be deployed to Afghanistan in June with the Naval Reserve Seabee unit for 10 months. The iPad will be a wonderful new tool to take with me during my deployment to stay in touch with my wife, family and friends."
