The Martin Brower team would like to nominate our Human Resource Manager, Sally Parker for the Tom Scalise Leadership Award. Sally constantly goes above and beyond to promote health and wellness in our work place. The one-on-one physician and employee consultations helps ensure each employee has the knowledge and resource to maintain and become proactive with their healthcare by understanding their lab reports. In addition to the employee’s physical health & wellness, Sally provides retirement & financial resources and workshops at our annual Health Fair. Sally’s passion goes beyond our annual Health Fair. I would like to nominate Mr. Bill Sublette, OCPS School Board Chairman because Chairman Sublette and Orange County Public Schools believes that a healthy staff can more effectively perform their assigned duties and model appropriate wellness behaviors to students. The OCPS Employee Wellness Program (EWP) is designed to reach all employees at various levels of interest and need. Since we are self-insured, we strongly support wellness activities that encourage our employees to play an active role in their own health status. Chairman Sublette along with the other School Board Members and Superintendent Barbara Jenkins understand the importance of having the Employee Wellness Program and support our efforts to improve the health of our employees. Recognizing the importance of a strong wellness program, the district has an employee wellness representative at each school to serve as a liaison between the OCPS EWP and the personnel at the work location. In addition to sharing district information, the employee wellness representatives are responsible for the implementation of wellness activities at their school including scheduling, promoting and evaluating all programs. They attend training sessions and submit activity reports to the OCPS Employee Wellness Program. The district understands the importance of these individuals and offers a special duty supplement to the designated representative. In addition to the activities scheduled by the employee wellness representative, the district offers many programs including: Weight Phases, Smoke-Free OCPS, Well-Pregnancy/Healthy Babies, 10,000 Steps-a-Day, flu shot clinics and on-site mobile mammography. These programs would not be possible without the support from Dr. Jenkins, Chairman Sublette, School Board Members and our entire administrative team. Additionally, Chairman Sublette is an avid runner and has supported our participation in the IOA Corporate 5K for the past 3 years. This year he has encouraged us to make it even bigger and better for organization.

Since we are self-insured, we strongly support wellness activities that encourage our employees to play an active role in their own health status. We offer preventive and disease management activities in two parallel tracks of complementary services (clinical/non-clinical). Both tracks offer a full continuum of prevention, early detection and health maintenance components. Dr. Jenkins and Mr. Sublette understand the importance of the Employee Wellness Program and support our efforts to improve the health of our employees. I believe Mr. Craig Macnab exemplifies top-notch excellence with regards to health and wellness within our workplace. Since Craig started with NNN in 2004 he has been extremely vocal on how important living a healthy and active lifestyle is. Our Company hosts many different challenges/programs, all that have “incentives or prizes” for added inspiration. (and more FUN) Anytime a suggestion is made on NNN participating in any type of program of this type you can always know that Craig will approve them with a large smile, powerful high five and a loud “CHEERS…great idea!” As a leader by example, Craig is an avid long distance cyclist, hiker, horseback rider and overall healthy eater. We, as associates at NNN, realize how fortunate we are to be able to have a CEO that is not only inspiring, but cares enough to support so many initiatives. Without Craig’s suggestions, approvals and encouragement…none of this would be possible. (See below) I cannot tell you how much his support has changed lives of employees in our company. We are a family here and I believe all the initiatives taken at NNN has made us strong and aware….ready to strive for a better way of life. If this award would also include charitable donations, community involvement, youth leadership programs, volunteering programs with GKTW, Salvation Army and The Boys and Girls Club…wow…I could give you another page on how much our CEO deserves that award too. So many people in this world don’t take the time to “give back”, inspire, share or acknowledge…Craig certainly does! Thank you, CRAIG, from your team…NATIONAL RETAIL PROPERTIES. The BEST company EVER!

It’s just after 5am. Scott slips out of the house careful not to wake his wife and three daughters. A quick 10 minute drive and by 5:30am, he is stretched and ready for his morning spin class at the YMCA. Unbeknownst to many in his class, the quiet and unassuming man with the curly hair is a true pillar in the Central Florida community. His countless effort to help create affordable homes for many in the Central Florida area and beyond is well documented. But this morning like any other, he is just another member at the Y getting a brisk 45 minute workout. Later, he zips back home and to get his day started as a dedicated husband and father of 3 teenage girls. Bustling everyone to school while also managing the three canine occupants in the house is no easy task let alone to be the President and Co – Owner of AGPM, LLC. If the story of Scott Zimmerman where to end there it would be pretty amazing as a very successful business man in his mid 50’s who is a model of health. To truly understand the depth of Mr. Zimmerman’s persona, it forces us to look back 5 years ago when AGPM was started as the brainchild of Scott Zimmerman and Lou Vogt. Having successfully managed communities in the Central Florida area for over 25 years, Scott took a leap of faith and started a new company in the middle of one of the worst economic down turns in this nation’s history. At its core, AGPM (A Green Property Manager) was a people first company. At a time when most employers were looking to cut back benefits and reduce contributions to the overall welfare employee, Scott made it a core value that all AGPM employees will have healthcare at no cost to them. In learning more about Scott, he stressed the importance of providing this benefit to all employees so that their health and happiness came first before the bottom line. Over the past three years AGPM has made stronger pushes for employee fitness by encouraging participation in biometric screening and voluntary smoking cessation programs. Both of these items have been encouraged and provided financial reward to employees that participated. The driving force behind these programs has been Scott Zimmerman who continues to quietly provide healthier lifestyles for the 250+ employees currently employed by AGPM.
Even with his very busy and demanding schedule, Sheriff Jerry L. Demings finds time to work out in the agency gym nearly every day, even if it is late in the evening and coming in on the weekends. He is very supportive of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Wellness Program and supports employee wellness. With his support, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has added additional fitness classes, including Yoga, Zumba and Insanity, installed Cross Fit equipment and is working closely with CIGNA and Florida Hospital to bring nutritional counseling classes, weight management, healthy eating on a budget as some of the wide variety of wellness classes. Sheriff Demings recognizes the Orange County Sheriff’s Office cannot effectively take care of our community without taking care of our employees. Sheriff Demings addresses each new recruit and encourages them to stay fit and maintain a high level of fitness as a Deputy Sheriff. Each year, he selects a theme for the agency. Our theme for 2014 is “Helping Ourselves to Help Others”. With his continued support, Sheriff Jerry L.
