Successful employee wellness programs begin with dedicated Corporate 5k Team Captains like Debbie Castagnola. Debbie Castagnola, the City of Orlando’s Wellness Coordinator has been the driving force behind Team Orlando’s Corporate 5k team for 29 years. Her role is to inspire City employees to a healthy lifestyle by providing fitness challenges, programs and making wellness opportunities available to all staff.
Like any good Team Captain, come February each year, her co-workers know she’ll be encouraging them to sign up to run or walk the Corporate 5k!
Cesar Torrealba looked like the luckiest guy in the room at the Team Captain’s celebration, held February 29 to kick off the 30th SimplyIOA Corporate 5k presented by Key HR. Through the prize drawings he won a golf bag AND tickets to Walt Disney World!
Besides having the hot hand that night, Cesar’s genuine enthusiasm for fitness and the Corporate 5k is infectious. We caught up with Cesar, team captain of his Corporate 5k team and the founder of CJT Construction Corp, a local company that specializes in installation, repairs, and cleaning of gutters, particularly in seamless gutters.

This year, Team Cuhaci Peterson, a Central Florida based architectural firm with offices in four U.S. cities took their virtual SimplyIOA Corporate 5k to new heights!

Team Captain Cassie Roach shares why this annual event is a priority at Addition Financial.
Q. Why did your company choose to participate in Corporate 5k?
A. As a credit union founded here in Central Florida, we are incredibly proud of our community involvement and are thrilled to be a part of the Corporate 5K! Our team members absolutely love participating each year, and we are happy to support Second Harvest Food Bank and Track Shack Youth Foundation while enjoying a little healthy competition with other businesses in the area. We have been participating as Addition Financial since 2019, but have been involved in this event on and off for at least 10-12 years under the name CFE Federal Credit Union, prior to our name change.
Team Orange County Government flexes its collective muscle by showing up en masse dressed in orange shirts. Each year you can’t help but notice the enthusiastic runners and walkers or be inspired by the firefighters running in full gear!
Orange County Government’s wellness program is robust, and employees get pumped to participate in the Corporate 5k!

A. At AdventHealth we encourage everyone to embrace feeling whole in mind, body and spirit. The Corporate 5K is an amazing opportunity for our team members to feel whole, sharing new experiences with their coworkers, whether they are running, walking or cheering from the sidelines. We are excited to build our AdventHealth family and celebrate our team spirit with the Orlando community again in 2023. We take pride in our work, and the SimplyIOA Corporate 5k presented by Key HR is a great event to showcase that.

A: The SimplyIOA Corporate 5k is a great opportunity for team building and promote a healthy lifestyle within the company. CES has been participating every year, since 2001, with the exception of when the Corporate 5k was cancelled due to the Pandemic.

Q: Why did you choose to participate in this event? What attracted you to sponsor/partner with the SimplyIOA Corporate 5k?
A: Now that we’ve opened our headquarters here, we feel it is important to be a part of and support our local business community here in Orlando. Plus, it’s a great excuse to get up and leave the screen.

Q: Why did you choose to participate in this event?
A: Health, wellness and community outreach are huge focuses for SimplyIOA. We love to encourage other local employees to get involved and get running! How long has your team participated? 27 years! Since first event in 1995. What is your favorite thing about sponsoring this event? Seeing everyone come together on race day is incredible. Teams are ready to have fun and run, while also celebrating how much we were ALL able to give back to Second Harvest Food Bank.

A: Key HR has always maintained a strong commitment to the Orlando community, both as a service provider and a locally owned business. We were excited for the opportunity to join IOA, one of our trusted partners, in this annual corporate race and continue supporting local businesses and professionals. We joined the Simply IOA 5K for the first time in 2021.
