Corporate 5k Runners & Walkers Work Together to Outrun Hunger

Anticipation and excitement leading up to the 30th SimplyIOA Corporate 5k presented by Key HR began nine months ago as Team Captains got to work registering their teams, securing the coveted team tents and party space, and sharing the training tips.

These wellness warriors set the stage for amazing team-building experiences– whether the team members work down the hall or remotely. Truly, the Team Captain’s MAKE the Corporate 5k experience. Thanks Team Captains!

Unseasonably hot weather became the topic of race week and organizers and partners collaborated to shorten the course and start a little later, allowing the sun to dip low behind the skyscrapers of downtown Orlando.

“The night was warm, the course was shortened, but the 2.4-mile run/walk was an event to remember! Our sponsors, our community and our Track Shack team made the 30th SimplyIOA Corporate 5k truly the best one yet,” said Betsy Hughes, co-owner of Track Shack.

The humidity stayed low, and spirits were high as 12,800+ participants came to Lake Eola Park hydrated and ready to get a new PR at the 2.4-mile distance.

Overall winners blazed through the course in record time. Overall champion Daniel Beckstead, a great local runner ran 11:24 for the win, representing Orange County Government. Jessica Marlier, overall female champion works in PE at Boone High School and finished swiftly in 14:27.
