BUILDING A WORLD CLASS RACE: 
RUN NONA OFFERS $15K PRIZE MONEY FOR 15K DISTANCE AT LAKE NONA

Orlando, Fla., Track Shack Events, a nationally recognized Orlando-based road race management firm and Lake Nona, a ground breaking 11-square mile community for healthy living, sports innovation and performance, technology and life sciences have teamed up to expand the Healthy City’s world-class road race in southeast Orlando.

On Saturday, November 21 Lake Nona hosts their 9th Run Nona featuring the Nemours Kids’ Runs, a 5k run/walk, a newly added 15k (9.3 miles) and the Florida Dairy Farmers 20k Chocolate Milk Challenge.  Also new this year is the $15,000 prize purse that will be awarded to the top 15k male and female runners.

“Together with our client Tavistock, the goal over the next four years is to elevate the Run Nona 15k to be an Olympic Development race with prize money, elite athletes and ultimately a national championship,” says Jon Hughes, race director and co-owner of Track Shack.  “Lake Nona is prime to become an international race destination with its expansive property and center for world class sports.”  An elite field of nine athletes has been brought in from around the country to compete.  View elite athlete bios. 

The course runs through one of America’s fastest growing communities, Lake Nona. Runners and walkers will see spectacular homes across Lake Nona’s diverse neighborhoods, Lake Nona Medical City and emerging innovation and performance district – the USTA’s New Home of American Tennis, in addition to the picturesque scenery of their conserved land and waterways. Runners can go the distance by entering into the newly added 15k or push the limits with the 20k Florida Dairy Farmers Chocolate Milk Challenge!

Proceeds from the races will benefit the Tavistock Foundation and the Track Shack Foundation. The Tavistock Foundation serves programs and organizations in the communities where it has significant business interests. 
The Foundation has been instrumental in the development of Lake Nona's emerging Medical City, with millions of dollars donated to creating this biomedical research and educational hub in Central Florida. The Track Shack Foundation is a 501 © (3) organization established to promote youth health & fitness.
