Military participants are automatically entered into a chance to WIN a 2 night stay at a Rosen Hotel! Staycation open to military personnel and family 18 and over. Winner is chosen at the event. Thank you for your service!
We’re collecting non-perishable food items for the Orlando VA Medical Center’s VSO Food Pantry.
Our goal is 1000 food items! Please bring non-expired food to the Food Drive tent at the race.
Helpful items include:
- Tuna in foil packets
- Hormel microwaveable meals
- Small jars of peanut butter and/or jelly
- Canned soup, chili (with pop-top lids)
- Large juices like Gatorade
- Vienna sausages
- Plastic flatware (pre-wrapped)
Create a team and show your support of our local military! The team with the most participants (minimum 15) will have a $500.00 donation made on their behalf to a local 501© (3) organization that supports military service. Final team counts will be based upon registrations received by July 3rd.
Kids' runs are free and recommended for children 12 and under. Distances range from 100 yards to 400 yards and children will be placed in age appropriate groups. Registration available on race week. T-shirts are first come first serve. All finishers receive a ribbon. Staff and volunteers are present. Parents may accompany their child but may not pace or impede other children in the race.

In the festive spirit of the holiday, the Watermelon 5k is a non-scored fun-run for runners and walkers of all ages. Top 10 male and female finishers will receive awards. No other times will be recorded. Participants are able to get their finish times from the overhead clock at the finish line.
Alyssa Marie Armentrout was crowned the 2023 Florida Watermelon Queen on November 3, 2022 at the Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida. Queen Alyssa is the daughter of Jonathan and Amanda Armentrout of Sebring, Florida. She a graduate of Southeastern University where she majored in Criminal Justice and Minored in Theology.
As the 2023 Florida Watermelon Queen, Alyssa will travel throughout the United States serving as a spokesperson for the Florida watermelon industry. In February 2024, she will represent her home state of Florida and compete for the title of National Watermelon Queen in Scottsdale, Arizona.
