Shoe Review: Brooks Glycerin 19 and Glycerin GTS 19

Glycerin 19 

The Glycerin 19 like its 18 Glycerin predecessors is a high cushion neutral trainer from Brooks. This newest update is as soft and smooth as ever featuring a full length DNA loft midsole. DNA loft is the softest midsole material Brooks makes. This update also features a plush internal knit upper and comfort collar heel collar for a super snug yet breathable fit up top. At 9oz for women and 10.2oz for men, this is a great daily trainer for a neutral runner who likes a soft, smooth ride but wants a shoe that is not super heavy.

Glycerin GTS 19

The Glycerin GTS 19 boasts all these features plus the addition of guiderails. Guiderails add a layer of stability on both sides of the foot to account for over-pronation or extra flexible arches/ankles. These add just a tiny bit of weight bringing the Glycerin GTS 19 to 9.5oz for women and 10.7oz for men. If you wore the Brooks Transcend previously and liked it, this is the shoe for you! Like they did with the Launch/Launch GTS, Brooks decided to use the same name for shoes built on the same platform and use the term GTS (short for “go to shoe” or “go to stability”) to identify the stability model of the pair. The Transcend for the past few years has been a glycerin platform plus guiderails so the Glycerin GTS 19 is the same shoe as the old Transcend but now shares the Glycerin name. 

This is a great, super plush daily trainer for anyone needing some additional stability in the arches/ankles.
