Testimonials

"Marathonfest is a great program. I just missed my goal of 4 hours, but I improved my personal best time by nearly 40 minutes. I attribute all of this to Marathonfest. Ed and Laura were great group leaders and I am looking forward to an entire year of training in 2008."

~ Britt Morgan, MarathonFest Member

Mileage and Pace Prerequisites for MarathonFest - Fall Marathoners must be ready to run 10 miles at our first weekend run. Half-Marathoners must be ready to run 3 miles at our first weekend run. Walt Disney World Marathoners must be ready to run 4 miles on our first weekend training run. ALL runners must be able to maintain a 13:30 min. mile for the distances listed above.

The MarathonFest Training Program
MarathonFest is a 3-day a week training program. We offer coached group workouts 3 days a week: Tuesday is track day, Thursday is a tempo run or hill workout, and long runs are offered on Saturday OR Sunday morning. Runners are asked to select Saturday or Sunday as their primary long run day for pace group placement purposes. Runners may opt to add additional run days and/or cross-training days to their training depending upon individual goals and fitness levels.

Meeting Times
On Tuesdays and Thursdays , MarathonFest offers early morning workout sessions at 4:45 am OR evening workout sessions at 5:45 pm. Please arrive PROMPTLY to these workouts to allow for your warm up time. We recommend 1-3 miles as warm up before these training sessions.

Choose ANY weekday workout session that best fits your schedule that day and come ready to run! You can choose a morning session one day and an evening session the next. We provide the water. If you are unable to make the week day workouts, you can run on your own following the training schedule.

Weekend runs are held on Saturday OR Sunday mornings in the Winter Park area. Runners are asked to designate Saturday OR Sunday as their long run day when they register for the training program. Runners are also asked to state their training pace and/or a recent race time. From this information, runners are assigned to pace groups for weekend training runs. Each pace group has a Pace Group Leader responsible for setting the run pace, providing supervision, and planning running routes that accommodate a variety of mileage needs. Pace groups provide MarathonFest runners with superb leadership, motivation, and LOTS of support! MarathonFest has a wide range of pace groups available to accommodate runners of various speeds. Weekend runs are supported with water and sports drink every 2-3 miles.

Communication is an essential component of our training program. Participants receive a weekly email from the Training Program Director outlining the plans for the upcoming week and weekend. Emails include information on the weekend start times and locations, mileage, running routes, and training tips. Runners also receive a weekly email from their Pace Group Leader with specific information pertaining to their pace group. Please make sure your email address is legible when you register!
