History
Track Shack has come a long way in 30 years. Here are some of the notable milestones in our history.
September 1977
Three area businessmen, Terry Smith, Tracy Dent and Dana Flugel opened Track Shack at 1313 N. Mills Ave.
December 1977
Jon began working at the store.
First "Tangerine Bowl" Half Marathon.
Spring 1978
Jon Hughes became manger of the store.
First Grand Prix series won by Donnie Cook and Jayne Surdyka
Sunday morning runs began.
Fall 1978
Jon became one third owner of Track Shack.
Jon hired Donnie Cook and Betsy Mackenzie.
The first Nike Air shoe, the Tailwind, was introduced.
January 1, 1980
Track Shack moved to 1322 N. Mills Ave.
Spring 1983
Jon & Betsy were married and bought out the two partners.
Fall 1986
First Track Shack Baby, Emma, was born.
Mid to late 80's
Event business took off, from four races in 1978 to 30, 40, then 50 races each year!
1990
Event Marketing & Management International became Incorported.

February 1990
Christopher made our family four.
1992
Galloway Running Program began.
1994
Inaugural Walt Disney World Marathon.
Track Shack Foundation was established for the purpose of promoting health and fitness with an emphasis on youth programs. Your participation in Track Shack and EMMI events will improve your own health and fitness and benefit the youth in our community.
July 1996
We moved 300 yards south to our current home, 1104 N. Mills Avenue!
August 1997
Track Shack celebrates its 20th Anniversary with the Celebration of Running 5k!
Fall 1999
Jon Hughes was named National Race Director of the Year by Road Race Management.
2002
25th Anniversary Celebration of Track Shack
2003
Training Programs expands to over 500 participants.
2004
EMMI and Track Shack continue to grow.
trackshack.com receives a new face lift.
2005
First Track Shack baby Emma to graduate high school.
