My first big race was the Cincinnati Flying Pig half marathon in 2012. Since then I have run marathons all across Florida and half marathons from San Diego to Celebration, as well as running the OUC half every year since 2013. Running began as a way to try and stay in shape. However, when my oldest son Raymond was born I bought a jogging stroller and started running with him. In fact, the picture of my very first Fourth of July Watermelon 5K features Raymond finishing slightly ahead of me in the jogging stroller. I think I’ve run just about every street in Orlando, and most of the longer trails. Along the way, I’ve made some really great friends and shared some memories that are more precious than I appreciated at the time. The true value of what we do is not measured in miles, or sweat, or worn out sneakers, it is the people we get to know and become a part of our lives. The Orlando running community is something truly special and I am honored to be a part of it.
