Registration

  • Responsible for the "race packet pick-up" area before the race begins.
  • Runners will arrive one hour before race starts to pick-up their race packet.
  • Looking up the runners last name to locate their Packet & look up their ChampionChip according to their race number. (EMMI staff will assist all volunteers in this area)
  • Outgoing people enjoy this placement as you are in contact with every athlete!

Water Stops

  • Set up of tables and the filling water cups. Supplies will need to be setup before race begins
  • Hands-on experience of giving runners cups of water as they run by their station (swiftly).
  • Volunteers in this area should expect an exciting fast pace setup inside all the race action!

Course Monitors

  • Volunteer will be placed on course by EMMI staff member at specific areas throughout the course route.
  • Must direct runners (with the aid of cones & turn signs) in the direction they are to continue to run.

Split Timers

  • Volunteer will be placed on course at a specific mile marker (1 mile, 2 mile or 3 mile.) - Must call out running times as runners pass by their mile marker station. (The volunteer will be equipped with a stopwatch for the running time.)
  • Accuracy is key in this area!

Finish Line

  • Located at the finish line area of the race.
  • Set up and break down of finish line (i.e. scaffolding, sport fence, banner placement).
  • Specific duties will be assigned race morning.

Refreshments

  • Set up and break down of all: fruit, breaded items, and water/replacement drinks.
  • Fill water/replacement cups prior to race and during the race until it race has finished. - Check on ice levels in coolers and refill as needed. (EMMI staff will be at this area to assist volunteers)
