Emma’s Heat Alarm Campaign

Please help Emma, daughter of K9s United Founder Debbie Johnson, raise money for the advanced and life-saving Ace K9 Heat Alarm Systems!

There are key components to this life-saving heat alarm system and all are required to assure the safety of our K9 heroes. K9s United ensures law enforcement agencies can focus on keeping our streets safe, not how they can acquire this much-needed equipment.

K9s United has a close partnership in purchasing these life-saving heat alarms, so we are able to receive a substantial discount, stretching your donor dollar. A heat alarm, including installation, can cost close to $2,000 (with our savings).

PASSING LAWS TO PROTECT K9s

K9s are an extension of their handlers. They are living, breathing animals with a heartbeat, and they have one of the most dangerous jobs in law enforcement.

On September 30, 2018, K9 Fang made the ultimate sacrifice to save his handler and keep his community safe from an armed kidnapper. He was shot twice (once in the head) and murdered by a fleeing suspect, but K9 Fang bit deep into the man and never let go. Sadly, the man who killed K9 Fang didn’t get the sentence he deserved due to laws in place at the time.

After much hard work and lobbying, K9s United celebrated in May of 2019 as Florida Governor Ron Desantis signed Senate Bill 96, which made killing a law enforcement canine in the line-of-duty a second-degree felony.

Learn more about K9 Fang’s ultimate sacrifice and how you can get involved in the fight for national legislation to protect our fearless four-legged heroes.

In Honor of Baron

K9s United is dedicated to providing the necessary equipment and training K9 law enforcement officers need in order to protect communities across the country, as well as memorializing those who give the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

K9s United was founded in 2015 after founder Debbie Johnson heard of the tragic death of Baron—a K9 officer, killed in service in St. John’s County, Florida.

Our Impact

Every police officer should have what they need to serve, protect and thrive—no one can argue with that. But some of our best officers don’t have everything they need. Some of our fastest officers aren’t protected by the best equipment. Some of our most dedicated officers aren’t given the best tools. And these officers can’t speak up. These officers can’t ask for more. These officers can’t tell us exactly what they need.

These officers are K-9 officers. And they deserve our support. So, at K9s United we join forces with local law enforcement agencies. To speak up for them. To provide them the equipment they need. To give them the tools to survive in the field and thrive in life.. We are their voice. We are their partners. And together we unite to support our K-9 heroes. We are K-9s United.

Recent Tributes

When we learn of a K9s "end of watch," one of the first things we do is reach out to the K9 Unit associated with the K9 and offer our condolences. Through a partnered artist, we will have a sketch rendering of the K9 commissioned, offer a portrait of the K9 to the handler or Unit, and then place the K9 on our Tribute Wall to be honored and never forgotten.
