Track Shack Foundation Awards $20,000 in Grant Money to Local Organizations
Orlando, FL October 12, 2006 - Board of Directors of the Track Shack Foundation met on October 4 and awarded nearly $20,000 in grant money to sixteen outstanding local organizations helping over 2200 children and adults.
Serving Central Florida, the Track Shack Foundation makes health and fitness opportunities available through adult training programs and funding youth athletic programs. The Track Shack Foundation is a 501 © (3) organization whose mission is to promote health and fitness with an emphasis on youth athletics. Grant recipients include:
- Lawton Chiles Middle School, Oviedo - To support the school track and cross country program.
- Hamilton Elementary School, Sanford - To support the school before and after school running clubs.
- Park Place Behavioral Health Care’s Sunnyside Village, Kissimmee - To purchase sports equipment for the county children’s home.
- Indian Trails Middle School, Winter Springs - To support the school cross-country program and conduct multi-school meets.
- St. James Cathedral, Orlando - To support the school track program.
- Reedy Creek Elementary School, Kissimmee - To support the school running club.
- Bear Lake Elementary, Apopka - To support the school running club and conduct multi-school run.
- Evans High School, Orlando - To support fitness activities of the school Jr. ROTC program.
- Coalition for the Homeless, Orlando - To promote gross motor skill development through purchase of playground equipment.
- Brookshire Elementary, Winter Park - To support water safety and swimming skills program for early elementary school children.
- Glen Ridge Middle School, Orlando - To support the school running club.
- Oviedo High School, Oviedo - To support the school cross-country program.
- Fast Start Track and Field Invitational, Winter Park - To support a free track meet that serves over 800 participants. Special Olympics Orange County - To support training and competition to sailing athletes with intellectual disabilities.
- Grand Avenue Primary Learning Center, Orlando - To train staff and implement a YogaKids curriculum.
- Jackson Heights Middle, Oviedo - To support the school track and cross country program.
