MORE THAN $25,000 IN GRANTS AWARDED: TRACK SHACK FOUNDATION
CONTINUES TO POSITIVELY IMPACT OUR COMMUNITY

ORLANDO, FLA., April 1, 2009 –- The Track Shack Foundation board of directors recently awarded over $25,000 in grants to local organizations that allow young people to participate in a range of sports and fitness related activities. Through a grant application process, 11 organizations and 3 schools across Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Volusia counties received funds based on their efforts to engage youth of all ages and athletic abilities.

The Track Shack Foundation promotes a message of healthy living by supporting a variety of organized youth athletic programs within our schools and community by providing financial assistance. Most recently Track Shack Foundation has helped the Evans High School NJROTC to purchase athletic gear for their leadership building programs. Local low income pre-schoolers will be provided with more appropriate outdoor play equipment to actively develop their minds and bodies with funding for the “Play, Learn and Grow” program. Youth cyclists from Lake County Police Athletic League, a youth crime prevention organization, have received funding for their upcoming meet.

Recent grant recipients include:

  • American Heart Association- 2009 Greater Orlando Start! Heart Walk
  • Break Away Track Club- annual Break Away invitational track meet
  • Central Florida Children’s Home- community run/walk fundraiser
  • Winter Park YMCA- second annual minimaniacs youth triathlon
  • Deltona Thunder- track program
  • Maynard Evans High School Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps- warm up uniforms
  • Orlando Day Nursery Association, Inc.- playground equipment for children in need
  • Indian Hills Middle School- track team
  • Wolf Lake Middle School- AED purchase for school
  • Orange County Special Olympics- regional sailing competition
  • Seminole County Special Olympics- training equipment and uniforms
  • Orlando Health Foundation- Golden South Classic- track and field event
  • Central Florida Gliders Track Club- track team
  • Lake County Police Activities League, Inc. – cycling meet and event for at risk youth

The Track Shack Foundation grants have exceeded $2 million since 1994. The foundation helps provide health and fitness opportunities through adult training programs and the funding of youth athletic programs. For more information, please visit www.trackshack.com.
