New Intellectual Impairments Division Coming to the 2026 OUC Orlando Half Marathon

Today, Track Shack announced the introduction of a new Intellectual Impairments Division, debuting at the 2026 OUC Orlando Half Marathon—a significant stride in the event’s mission to create one of the most inclusive running experiences in the Southeast.

The announcement came during a press conference at The Plaza Live, where excitement was already building as athletes arrived for the Expo & Bib Pickup presented by Brooks ahead of the 2025 race weekend.

The new division reflects a growing, industry-wide commitment to expand opportunities for adaptive athletes and ensure distance running is accessible to all. By establishing a dedicated competitive category for athletes with intellectual impairments, Track Shack joins other major races—such as the Boston Marathon and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon—in championing diversity, visibility, and inclusion across the sport.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to adaptive athletes Chris Nikic, Caleb Prewitt, and others who joined Track Shack leadership and OUC representatives to celebrate the news and share their insights on the impact this division will have for future athletes.
