6314 IOA Corporate 5k Runners and Walkers
Signed Up to Outrun Hunger – Virtually!
Over 6000 runners and walkers from
350 organizations spread over 30 states rallied together and showed resolve
by participating in the 26th annual IOA
Corporate 5K at a time we thought this event could not happen. With the
confidence and support of our major sponsors Simply IOA,
AdventHealth, Publix
and Cru together we moved forward.
Between November 12-15 we saw on social media how companies and individuals
were using creativity to celebrate corporate fitness and the camaraderie that
has been missing over the last few months.
For example, some members of the Orange County Government team did a sunset run/walk around Baldwin Park on a beautiful evening!
Construction firm Robins & Morton caught our eye on Saturday morning. This first-time IOA Corporate 5k team had about 30 team members participate. They were well prepared with an American flag, the national anthem, and trophies! It’s truly heartwarming to see after 26 years that the IOA Corporate 5k spirit is going strong even during a pandemic. The corporate community united and with extraordinary generosity contributed over 140,000 meals for Second Harvest Food Bank at a time when it’s truly needed. Veritas Technologies donated all their registration fees to Second Harvest earlier this year since the event moved to a virtual race.
