20,000 Meals and Counting

Shouting out to all the IOA Corporate 5k teams and companies who have participated in the 100 Meal Challenge!  To demonstrate that the Corporate 5k is a big race with a big heart, we asked our participating companies to join in the community effort to help ease the food insecurity issue that so many of our neighbors experience.   We’re thrilled to announce that we’re at 20,000 meals and counting in our Food and Funds Drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank and the Christian Service Center.

“One thing that is clear from the results of this study is that the face of hunger in Central Florida is probably not unfamiliar to most of us.  It includes people who have jobs, raise families, pay taxes, work toward education, and struggle with health problems.  The choices they face in order to put food on the table are daunting.  We hope that these findings help to dispel some of the myths and stereotypes that can creep into public perception of who needs help.”
