IOA Corporate 5k: The Big Race with A Big Heart
You may know Insurance Office of America (IOA) as the champion for corporate fitness considering their 22 year participation and sponsorship of the IOA Corporate 5k happening April 7. What you may not know is that IOA’s leadership is the driving force behind keeping the race’s charitable components top of mind for our participants. The IOA Corporate 5k benefits three local charities Track Shack Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank and Christian Service Center.
At IOA headquarters in Longwood, FL, Charities and Special Events Coordinator, Debbie Gross, manages the internal promotion to get her associates psyched up and signed up for the race (over 200). Each year she finds innovative ways to rally her associates around the cause.
Here’s a great idea worth sharing. Every month IOA associates can donate $20 to their charity of choice and then get to dress casual. This month, all the donations go directly to the Corporate 5k’s 100 Meal Challenge. “So far we have collected $1,980 towards Second Harvest thanks to employees who have given a $20 donation which allows them to wear jeans for the entire month,” says Debbie Gross.
What a great way to dress down and keep spirits up. Please share below how your company embraces the Corporate 5k cause.
