Springtime, really?

It was a much needed time away and although it involved a race, it wasn't work and we actually ran!  Jon and I drove up to Tallahassee on Friday to see our daughter Emma and son-in-law, Will.  We arrived early enough (even though spring break traffic was horrible!) to visit the school where they teach.  This is the newest season in Jon's and my life; visiting our grownup children in their place of work.  Wow, where did the time go?  We are so proud of both of them and watching them interact as a married couple of two years is really fun :)

Springtime Tallahassee is a 40-year-old 10k event that I first did, 28 years ago, while pregnant with Emma.  We ran together 25 years later and then again on Saturday.  We had a great time together, but oh my, the hills of Tallahassee just about did us in!  The weather was not exactly spring, either!  Brrr, we had to bundle up some but the cooler air definitely gave us extra energy.  The course was beautiful and marked with, yes, flour, and lots of energized volunteers helped out.  We ran using run/walk intervals so it was fun to consistently pass and get passed by the same people.  In fact, one lady, wearing a Wine and Dine shirt, was near us the whole race!  What a surprise it was to find out she was not only from Orlando but she was a customer I was bringing shoes to exchange and when I called her and told her where I was, she was right next to me!  What a small running world.  We also ran into two former customers from 30 years ago!  But the most fun, was seeing a Track Shack sticker on a can at the I-10 rest area!

I'm looking forward to spring, not summer, so I plan to enjoy the cooler air as long as it is here; see you on the roads!
